Inspiration: Using Props

Jee Young Lee
The photography Jee Young Lee uses props and backdrops in her studio to create interesting photographs. The part that I find most fascinating about her work is that she does not edit any of her photographs. Instead, she transforms her studio to make her images look dreamlike. I have never really tried using props, backdrops, or anything like that in my photography before, and I think it would result in an interesting outcome.

Idea: Solarization

An idea that I would like to try at some point is solarization. I like the silvery cast that it gives to photos. I think it would add an interesting mood to photos. Something that I think would be cool would be to do a series of regular photographs and then put solarized versions of the same prints next to them.

Inspiration: Street Photography

Tao Liu
This series by Tao Liu has inspired me to try street photography. I have always liked the idea of capturing candid moments of everyday life. I think street photography is a great way to go about this. I do not think the streets of Andover have much to offer in regards to this, but when I go to college in Portland, Oregon, next year, I think there will be a lot of interesting things to photograph out and about.

Idea: Photo Diary

This idea is similar to what I am doing for my final project, which was to create a travel diary. I really like the idea of using photography as a form of documentation. I like the concept of taking pictures of everyday items and occurrences as a way of documenting one's life. This is something I would like to try more of in 2015.

Inspiration: Flowerworks

Sarah Illenberger
This photographer, Sarah Illenberger, has a series of photographs called Flowerworks in which she arranges flowers to look like fireworks. I find the way she is playing with props to look like something else is inspiring. While I might not necessarily want to do the exact same thing as her, I like the idea. I also think it would be interesting to shoot still life photos like these because most of what I photograph are landscapes.

Idea: Underwater Photography

This is not an idea that I would be able to carry out now, in the winter, but I have been wanting to try underwater photography in the summer. I have been enjoying using disposable cameras lately, and there inexpensive waterproof disposable cameras available. I like the way bright colors contrast with the blue of a swimming pool. I also think underwater photography has a very dreamy, ethereal mood to it, which I would like to try and capture.
